So much has happened since our last post that it is hard to believe that it has only been two months since I last wrote. We have now had 6 services. We average 11 each week with a high of 15. We are already supporting three missionaries and will be taking on our fourth next week!
On the first day of services, I dismissed for a brief break after Sunday school, and a lady with her son walked in. Excited, we welcomed them and thanked them for coming. After the service we asked how they heard about our work, and she said that I gave her a brochure in a store. Her family had been looking for a church in Athens, Georgia, and when she read it, God told her to visit. She took it home and showed her husband and he also said, “This is where God wants us to go.” They have been faithful ever since. I was even able to take them all to Faith Baptist Camp this week.
We have passed out thousands of flyers and tracts and knocked on most of the doors in the neighborhood around the synagogue as well a hundreds of doors in other areas. So far, five Jews have written us and requested a New Testament. They have not come to the services yet, but we are still praying for them. Amen!
The University of Georgia recently had “Israel Day.” The campus plaza was filled with booths selling Israeli jewelry, food, and other Jewish items. This provided the opportunity to meet several Jews. At the time, I did not know this was possible, but next year we will have our own table full of free Hebrew-English Bibles ready to give away. There are many such opportunities for us to evangelize the Jews here in Athens, GA. God is so good; I can’t wait to see what will happen next!
