Attempting Great Things

Our church and family are doing well. Jacob is almost ten years old now and Isaac is almost one. After helping us pray for a sibling for nine years, Jacob is very thankful to finally have a brother to play with. The two are very close. Sometimes I walk into the room and find Isaac sleeping on his brother’s chest and my cup runs over. The Lord has been exceedingly good to the Sims family and we are often overwhelmed at His love for us. I have turned into a crybaby lately just swimming around in the grace and mercy of God. God has given me my heart's desire. I just can’t believe how good God is!

On the wall of my accountant's office is the quote "Attempt Things So Great That Unless God Intervenes It Is Bound To Fail." This phrase has challenged us to attempt great things for God. Apparently, God is intervening. Messiah Baptist Church is doing well and we finally have our own building. We have been doing much needed repairs and the building is looking great now. Several of the men from my home church have come up to help us with the labor. It is next door to a 225 acre nature retreat center, 3 miles from the university, 4 miles from the synagogue, and 3 miles from Georgia’s largest flea market. I did not realize what a great location for evangelism God had blessed us with. We plan to make full use of this wonderful opportunity.

As soon as we found out we were getting our building, we were notified that the Tate Center, which we are currently renting, will no longer be available after February. This same week, a family who had visited last year starting coming again. The next day we receive an email from another family in the area looking for a church in Athens. The day after that we were contacted by a family in California whose son is a marine stationed on the small Navy base in Athens. He will be here for 6 months and needs an Independent Baptist church to attend while he’s here. Please pray for us as we attempt great things for God in Athens, Georgia.
